In early September of this year, a Canadian fishing trip of sorts was experienced by Dad, OFB Terry (TR), and me. It was a glorious time for so many reasons, some of which were introduced in the blog post Return from a Paradise.
Please check out each day’s events…the 5-night, 6-day trip to Halley’s Camp was crudely chronicled (we had other things besides writing a diary on
our minds). We were 25 miles as a crow flies (or maybe I should say “as a Bald Eagle flies”…or maybe simply “as a Float Plane flies”) north of Minaki – 55 miles north of Kenora, Ontario.
We stayed at Kettle Falls Lodge for the entire stay. George, Sharon, Florida, Tara, Jamey the Float Plane pilot, and Mac the Guide took wonderful care of us, seeing to our every need.
This trip is highly recommended to anyone wanting to fish amongst vast acres of wilderness, bald eagles, dense pine-spruce forests, and respectful of the Halley’s noble (and notable) stewardship attitude for the Trophy Waters of Ontario.
I hope to one day soon come back to Halley’s Camp and reaquaint myself with the hospitality, accommodations, float plane, fishing, shore lunches, and sunrises over the deck and dock.
Thanks George and Sharon, and the rest of your staff. It made for the perfect 75th birthday celebration for Dad.
